Fremont evacuation zones are worth checking before you need them
Fremont's Genasys zones, AC Alert, Nixle, Wireless Emergency Alerts, and Hi-Lo sirens are overlapping warning layers with different jobs.
Fremont has more than 100 pre-planned evacuation zones in Genasys Protect. Look up the zone for home, work, school, or a relative before an incident. The live Genasys status is what tells you whether a zone is under a warning or order.
An evacuation warning means prepare to leave. People who need extra time, have animals, or feel unsafe should consider leaving then. An evacuation order is lawful and means leave now. Fremont also uses a Hi-Lo siren from public-safety vehicles for a mandatory evacuation order.
AC Alert and Nixle are opt-in local message paths. Wireless Emergency Alerts can reach compatible phones in a targeted area without registration. Fremont says no notification method is fail-safe. If you are in immediate danger, leave without waiting for an alert or a knock at the door.
Save the zone and register the phone on a quiet day. During an incident, read the named zone and action in the latest official message, then follow responder directions and current road conditions.
