Galt Market turns shopping into a local tradition
Galt Market grew from a 1950s farmers market into a large open-air market with produce, goods, food, and regular Tuesday and Wednesday shopping days.
Galt Market gives the city a lived-in weekly rhythm. It started as a farmers market at the old Sacramento County Fairgrounds in the 1950s and has grown into a large open-air market.
The market now covers ten acres and has hundreds of vendors. Tuesday and Wednesday are the regular market days, with retail, flea-market rows, produce, and food. The location at 610 Chabolla Avenue also keeps it close to Highway 99, so people can reach it from beyond town.
That local color matters because Galt can look like a simple stop between Sacramento and Lodi. The market gives it a weekly rhythm. People come to browse, eat, buy produce, hunt for useful odds and ends, and spend a few hours outside.
For a visit, check the market page for hours and holiday changes. Comfortable shoes and weather-ready clothes are a good idea because this is a walking-and-looking kind of place.
