Garden Grove water and trash use two service counters

Garden Grove Water Billing opens and closes the city water account. Republic Services has the separate trash account and also handles recycling, food and yard waste, carts, missed pickups, and large items.

Start water by calling 714-741-5078. Have the name, service address, phone number, driver’s-license number, and Social Security number ready. The city may ask for proof that you own or live at the home. It cannot backdate the start or use a weekend, holiday, or Friday when City Hall is closed. A first-time customer pays a deposit on the first bill. The common small-meter deposit is $70.

To stop water, call at least one workday ahead. Give the stop date, new mailing address, and phone number. The city will not take the request by email or use the same day or a date in the past. It sends the final bill within three workdays after the stop date.

Call Republic at 714-238-3300 for the trash account or carts. Read the labels as well as the colors. Older carts use black for trash, green for recycling, and brown for food and yard waste. New carts are changing colors through 2027. Each home gets three large-item pickups per year at no added charge, with up to ten items each. Apartment residents should have the manager set the pickup place.
