Indio cooling-center hours need a same-day check

Indio has several cooling options, but the published hours do not line up. A phone call before leaving is part of the plan.

For adults 50 and older, Indio’s March 19, 2026 notice opened the Indio Senior Center at 45700 Aladdin St. as a cooling center beginning March 20. The notice says no membership is required for cooling-center use and lists water and light snacks. It gives hours of 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Thursday and 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM Friday. The July/August 2026 Senior Center newsletter shows those same building hours.

Two other official listings conflict with that schedule. Indio’s standing cooling page closes a half-hour earlier, while Riverside County’s directory dated June 22, 2026 lists 7:30 AM to 3 PM Monday through Friday. Call the Senior Center at (760) 391-4170 for that day’s closing time.

For residents under 50, the city notice and county directory list the Molina Indio One Stop Help Center, 81735 Highway 111, Suite B. Its listed weekday hours are 8:30 AM to noon and 1 PM to 5:30 PM, with a lunch closure from noon to 1 PM. The listed phone is (855) 665-4621.

Riverside County’s 2026 directory warns that hours can change and that only some sites accept pets. Neither Indio listing promises transportation. Call the location about animals, access needs, and same-day service, and keep a second indoor option in mind.
