Cove Oasis puts La Quinta right against the foothill trails
Cove Oasis is a 114-acre foothill trailhead. The 4.75-mile Bear Creek Trail connects it with central La Quinta, with exposed desert heat to plan around.
Cove Oasis is a 114-acre natural open-space area at the south end of La Quinta Cove. Enter from Calle Tecate. The trailhead connects to the Boo Hoff and Bear Creek trails.
Amenities at Cove Oasis include picnic tables, benches, hiking trails, a water fountain, public art, and event rentals. Bear Creek Trail is a 4.75-mile hiking path. It starts at Eisenhower Drive and Calle Tampico, then runs south toward Fred Wolff Nature Preserve and Cove Oasis.
The two pages describe different kinds of outings. Cove Oasis works as a foothill starting point with trail connections and a water fountain. Bear Creek is the longer city-to-Cove route. A 4.75-mile path is not a quick lap, and the return makes the day longer unless you arrange a pickup.
This is exposed desert travel. Look for city notices and review the heat and trail conditions before leaving. Carry enough water for the full route, turn around early when the heat builds, and do not count on one trailhead fountain as the whole water plan.
