Livermore has a science doorway at the LLNL Discovery Center

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's Discovery Center gives Livermore a public science stop with exhibits, hands-on displays, visitor rules, and a virtual tour.

Livermore has the wine valley, the old downtown, and one of the state’s big science names in daily view. The LLNL Discovery Center gives visitors a public way to understand that side of town.

The center sits at the Livermore Valley Open Campus, near East Gate Drive and Greenville Road. Its exhibits show pieces of the lab’s work. Topics include high-performance computing, energy, climate science, bioscience, materials, and the National Ignition Facility.

The visit has a few real-world details. Weekday hours run from noon to 4 p.m., with final check-in at 3:45 p.m. Adult visitors need proper identification. Groups of 10 or more are asked to contact the center.

The virtual tour is useful too. It lets people see lab history, major breakthroughs, and wildlife on the site. For Livermore, this is a neat bridge between a local place and very large scientific work.
