Exposition Park makes a Los Angeles museum day feel close together

Exposition Park gathers museums, the Rose Garden, sports venues, and historic Olympic places just south of Downtown Los Angeles.

Exposition Park lets a Los Angeles day stay in one neighborhood and still feel full. It sits just south of Downtown. Museums, gardens, sports venues, and transit are all close by.

The park covers 160 acres. The big anchors include the California African American Museum, the California Science Center, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, and the Rose Garden. The Coliseum, BMO Stadium, and the EXPO Center are there too. The site began as Agricultural Park in 1872 and was renamed Exposition Park in 1910.

The nice part is how flexible the visit can be. You can build a museum day, a garden stop, a game day, or a short walk between bigger plans. It also shows how Los Angeles stacks public uses together: science, natural history, Black history, sports, transit, school trips, and neighborhood green space all share the same district.

Review the park calendar, each venue’s hours, and parking ahead of time. Event days can change traffic and drop-off patterns, but with a little planning Exposition Park can make a big Los Angeles day feel surprisingly close together.
