LA move-ins often start with LADWP service
In the City of Los Angeles, LADWP is the key place to start, stop, or transfer water and power service, with some trash or sanitation steps depending on the address.
Moving into a Los Angeles address gets easier when utilities are treated as an early errand. LADWP is the main place to handle water and power service in the city.
Use the start-or-add service path when a new account needs to begin. Use the stop service path when leaving an address. If the move stays inside LADWP service territory, a transfer may fit better than opening and closing accounts one by one.
Apartments, condos, and multi-unit buildings can have shared meters or building rules. Ask the landlord, manager, or seller what is already included before starting a new account.
Trash and sanitation can depend on the property type and account setup. LADWP pages may point to services for the address. Still, every building can be a little different.
Before starting, gather the service address, move date, account details if you already have them, ID details, and the best phone or email. A little prep can save a second call.
