In Los Angeles city, ZIMAS is the first property map
Los Angeles City Planning says ZIMAS shows zoning and other property information for addresses in the city.
If the property is in the City of Los Angeles, start with ZIMAS. Search by street address or Assessor’s Parcel Number, called an APN. The tool also takes an intersection or a planning case number.
Open the Planning and Zoning menu for the parcel. ZIMAS can show its zone and land-use labels. It can also show planning cases and building-permit history. Look for added map layers too. A historic overlay, Specific Plan, or design overlay may add more limits.
ZIMAS is a research map, not a permit approval. A zone name alone does not settle each rule for height, use, parking, or design. Save the parcel report and write down the zone and each overlay name. If the layers are hard to read, take that list to a City Planning public counter. Do that before you pay for plans or file a permit form.
