The Coastal Rec Trail makes Monterey Bay easy to follow
The paved Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail runs 18 miles from Castroville to Pacific Grove and links waterfront stops along the bay.
The Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail is one of the simplest ways to make sense of the waterfront. Instead of guessing which road or parking lot to use, you can follow the bay in pieces.
The paved trail stretches 18 miles from Castroville to Pacific Grove. It links Fisherman’s Wharf, Cannery Row, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, beaches, parks, historic sites, Downtown Monterey, and wildlife viewing along the water.
You do not have to ride or walk the whole thing. Choose a short section, keep right, watch crossings, and expect busy spots near the famous stops. Before you set out, check trail rules, leash rules, safety reminders, and any local details.
