Monterey County evacuation messages use zone codes

Monterey County evacuation zones use three letters for the geographic area and three numbers for the specific zone. Look up and save the code for home, work, school, a campground, or another place you regularly help. During an incident, Genasys Protect shows the current zone status.

Alert Monterey County is the county’s official alert and warning system. A full registration can send calls, texts, email, and supported accessible messages. Texting a ZIP code to 65513 is an additional SMS option, but keyword alerts do not replace a full Alert Monterey County registration.

The live emergency page defines the actions. An evacuation warning means be prepared to leave; anyone who needs more time should consider leaving then. An evacuation order means leave now. Shelter in place means stay inside and follow the current instructions, which may include keeping outside air from entering.
