BART and Tempo give Oakland a useful transit spine
Oakland's downtown BART stations and AC Transit Tempo service make many local and regional trips easier to compare before choosing a car.
Oakland is easier to read when you see the transit spine. Downtown BART stations, including 12th Street/Oakland City Center, connect the city to the rest of the Bay Area. AC Transit’s Tempo line gives International Boulevard its own rapid-bus shape.
That does not mean every Oakland trip is simple. It means a lot of errands, events, appointments, and car-light days start by looking at BART, Tempo, and nearby bus links together.
Schedules, fares, alerts, and station details change. Use the transit pages close to travel time, then build the rest of the plan around the exact station or stop.
