Ontario emergency tools do different jobs

ReadyOntario is for planning. AlertOntario is an opt-in city system for text or email emergency messages, while Wireless Emergency Alerts do not require signup.

Ontario has several emergency tools. They do different jobs. ReadyOntario is for planning. It covers a kit, a home plan, and ways to stay informed. It does not show live incidents.

AlertOntario is the city’s opt-in alert system. Sign up through Everbridge Community and fill out the profile. Then search for and add City of Ontario: Community Alert. Choose the devices and kinds of alerts you want. Ontario can then send local emergency texts or emails.

AlertOntario is separate from a Wireless Emergency Alert. A WEA can reach phones near a serious threat with no signup. Ontario also links to San Bernardino County’s TENS system. TENS sends county alerts to a target area. Signing up for one system does not enroll you in the others.

Add the Ontario alert in Everbridge and keep the phone and email details up to date. Use ReadyOntario to make the home plan. The signup pages are not live status boards. Follow the steps in an alert. Call 911 for an immediate threat to life or property.
