Starting Pittsburg water service: fees and what to bring
A new Pittsburg water account normally costs $37 plus a $250 deposit. Apply no more than 24 hours ahead; renters need the owner's approval.
Pittsburg takes water-service requests no more than 24 hours before the requested date. New accounts have a $37 application fee and normally a $250 deposit. Requests after 2:30 p.m. carry an extra $99 after-hours fee. City service requirements.
The deposit exemption is for a new homeowner who has no prior city account history and lives in the home. Otherwise, a deposit refund requires a request and no late payments or shutoffs during the most recent full year.
Bring the papers for your situation
- New owner: visit City Hall with ownership proof. Bring a California ID, a state-issued driver’s license, or a Social Security card with a picture ID.
- Owner with a prior water account: visit City Hall or call 925-252-4940 to start service.
- Renter: come with the homeowner, or bring a notarized water application and valid U.S. ID.
- Property manager: the city needs the management agreement, notarized application, and current city business license on file.
Moving out
Closing requests also have the 24-hour limit. Supply a forwarding address for the final bill. Visit City Hall, or call 925-252-4940 if your ID is already on file.
