Rialto home businesses need two local approvals
Rialto uses an online permitting center, and a home-based business needs both a Planning home occupation permit and a Business Licensing home occupation license.
Rialto takes new business license forms and renewals through its online permit site. First choose the kind of business and gather the needed papers. Bring an ID. Some businesses also need a seller’s permit or health permit.
A home business needs two city approvals. Planning gives the Home Occupation Permit. Business Licensing gives the Home Occupation License. You need both.
The city’s timing pages do not match. The main license page says a review can take 20 business days. A second process page says 5 to 14 business days. Plan for 20. Watch the permit site and your email for the bill. Call the license office if the wait could change your opening date.
The city sends the bill only after review. Before you apply, gather the address, owner details, business type, and any other permits. Keep the filing email and record number. Do not set a firm opening date until the license and any land-use, health, or building step is done.
