California note
San Clemente beach parking has meters, permits, and state lots
San Clemente beach parking works differently by lot, with city meters and pay stations, annual city permits, and separate state-operated beach lots.
San Clemente beach parking is easier once you separate city parking from state beach parking. City meters and pay stations serve places such as North Beach, Linda Lane, the Pier Bowl, and T-Street. The posted city meter rate is $1.50 per hour during posted hours, and pay stations can take cards, coins, and dollar bills.
The annual city parking permit is a different option. It covers city-operated metered spaces, but it does not cover state-operated lots such as Calafia State Beach or Trestles State Beach. That difference matters on a beach day, because the beach may feel connected while the parking rules are not.
North Beach also has a small commuter-style detail: selected Metrolink spaces are listed at $1 per day on weekdays for arrivals between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m.
For a regular beach walker, surfer, train rider, or visiting family member, the useful habit is simple. Look at the sign or pay station first, then match it to the city permit or state lot you are actually using.
