AlertSF is San Francisco's official emergency text alert

San FranciscoAlertSFemergency alerts

AlertSF is San Francisco’s official emergency text alert system. SF.gov explains that it sends official notifications about emergencies such as earthquakes, fires, flooding, tsunamis, and other city conditions.

The signup is useful even if someone does not live in San Francisco full time. People commute into the city, visit hospitals, go to games, take ferries, attend school, stay in hotels, and work near the waterfront. The ZIP code you choose should match the places where you want city alerts.

AlertSF is one layer, not the whole plan. Wireless Emergency Alerts may still come through automatically for some hazards, and public safety agencies may use other channels too. Sign up, save the official alert page, and use current city instructions during an event instead of relying on old screenshots or social media summaries.
