Santa Clara emergency prep has AlertSCC and local resources

AlertSCC is Santa Clara County’s free, opt-in emergency system. It can send a text, phone call, landline call, email, or TTY message. Add home, work, school, and any loved one’s address you watch. The address helps the system decide whether an incident affects you. No app is required.

The language details are worth knowing before a stressful day. AlertSCC sends English messages first. Text messages can be in English or Spanish, while email supports more languages. Each alert can include a link to read it in another language, but translated versions may take longer.

The city’s disaster-resources page is for planning. It links to CERT training, earthquake information, flood and storm-drain contacts, sandbags, emergency water, and outage help. Those links do not show that a disaster shelter is open. CERT is training, not an alert, shelter-status, or dispatch service.

For live status, use the county’s Current Alerts and Disasters page and the newest AlertSCC instruction. Wireless Emergency Alerts and MyShake are separate channels, so AlertSCC does not replace them. Sign up, save the live page, and follow the protective action for your location.
