Santa Clarita city trash runs through Burrtec

Burrtec handles home and apartment waste inside the City of Santa Clarita, while nearby county areas use a different Burrtec service lane. Check the address and city line before you open an account. Use Burrtec’s request form to start, change, or stop service, or call 661-222-2249.

For a house, black is garbage, blue is recycling, and green is food and yard waste. Bag food scraps and dirty paper, but leave yard waste loose. Put carts out by 6 a.m. with the handles toward the home. Leave one foot between carts and three feet by a car, mailbox, or fence. Use the current route map because pickup routes changed on January 5, 2026.

An active city trash account gets up to four bulky pickups each year at no added charge. Each pickup can take three large items. Book it at least 48 hours before the normal pickup day. Wrap a mattress in plastic, and take electronics to a drop-off site or city event instead of this curbside pickup.

Apartment buildings have their own setup. Ask the manager about shared bins, pickup days, and large items. The house rules may not apply.
