Castle Crags gives Siskiyou County a granite-and-river stop

Castle Crags State Park gives Siskiyou County a clear I-5 landmark, with granite spires, Sacramento River access, forest, campsites, and Mount Shasta views.

Siskiyou CountyCastle CragsMount Shasta

Castle Crags is a helpful Siskiyou County anchor because it is easy to picture: sharp granite spires, forested slopes, river access, and Mount Shasta in the larger scene. It also sits close enough to I-5 that many travelers pass near it without understanding what they are seeing.

The park can be a short stop or a harder hiking day, depending on the route. Some trails are easygoing. Others climb and ask more from the visitor. That range is part of the point.

Before you turn it into a plan, check State Parks for camping, trail, road, weather, and fee details. Northern California mountain weather can change the feel of a day quickly.
