Free South City Shuttle links the hill, downtown, and transit

South San Francisco's free shuttle runs on weekdays and links local stops with SamTrans, BART, Caltrain, downtown, parks, stores, and civic destinations.

South San Franciscoshuttletransit

South San Francisco is not flat and simple. Downtown, Sign Hill, the east-of-101 job areas, hospitals, parks, senior centers, shopping stops, BART, Caltrain, and SamTrans all sit in different pieces of the local map. The Free South City Shuttle helps stitch those pieces together.

The shuttle is open to the public and runs Monday through Friday, except observed holidays. It has three routes. Stops include local stores, senior centers, Kaiser Hospital, the Library and Parks & Recreation building, downtown South San Francisco, several parks, Veterans Village in Colma, and other local destinations.

The real value is the transfer layer. The shuttle can connect people to SamTrans, BART, and Caltrain without turning every short errand into a car trip. That can help a student, senior, worker, caregiver, or visitor who needs to cross town but does not want to solve three separate transit maps at once.

Before relying on it, look at the route, schedule, and shuttle notices. A free shuttle is still a scheduled service, not an on-demand ride. Build in a little extra time if you are trying to make a medical appointment, work shift, train, or class.

For a city with hills, job centers, and several transit systems close together, this is one of those small public services that can quietly make daily life easier.
