Temecula project questions start at the Permit Center

First check that the project is inside the City of Temecula. A Temecula mailing address is not enough. Building and Safety has an address map for this check. If the site is outside city limits, do not file a city permit for it.

For building work, make a Citizen Self Service account about one week before you file. Read the minimum filing list. Fill out the permit form. Then upload the plans and other records. Online filing is required for new business buildings, tenant work, new tract or custom homes, solar work, and some large additions.

The desk changes with the job. Building and Safety handles plans, permits, and checks at the site. Planning handles zoning, signs, and use permits. Fire Prevention handles fire alarms and sprinklers. Land Development handles grading, haul routes, maps, and work in the street right of way. A business license is a separate step.

Ask for an inspection online. The site contact should get a call between 7 and 8 a.m. The day’s route is posted by 8:15 a.m. Keep the permit number, address, plans, and contact name close by. That keeps the request tied to the right job.
