The Channel Islands visitor center is not the island departure
The Ventura visitor center is a free mainland stop for exhibits and planning; an island trip needs separate boat and, when camping, campground reservations.
The Robert J. Lagomarsino Visitor Center is a mainland stop at 1901 Spinnaker Drive in Ventura Harbor. It is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Thanksgiving and December 25. Park admission is free, and the nearby beach lot has free parking.
The center has exhibits, a marine-life display, a bookstore, and a 25-minute park movie. It is a good visit even without an island trip. It does not include boat transportation, and it is not the boat check-in desk. Island Packers operates separately at 1691 Spinnaker Drive.
For an island visit, reserve an Island Packers boat or use a private boat. There is no public transportation, car service, or bike travel after arrival. Visitors move on foot or by private boat or kayak. If you plan to camp, make a campground reservation as well as a boat reservation.
Do not count on food, water, gear, cell service, or quick emergency help being available on the island. Pets are not allowed on the islands. Read the page for the exact island, then pack food, water, layers, and anything else the trip requires. Check park alerts, weather, and the boat schedule before leaving for the harbor.
