Anaheim fire-weather alerts are local and specific

Anaheim is not one flat place when it comes to fire weather. East Anaheim, canyon edges, overhead utility lines, parks, and higher-wind days can matter in ways that may not affect the whole city at once.

Anaheim Public Utilities monitors Red Flag Warning conditions, heat, wind risk, and wildfire threat tools. During higher-risk periods, it may use extra field monitoring, different system settings, targeted shutoffs on specific line segments, and inspections before power is restored. That does not mean most days are unusual. It means a household in or near a fire threat zone should have a simple backup plan: alerts turned on, phone chargers ready, a flashlight, medicine needs covered, and a way to check outage updates.
