Anaheim Alert and the outage map do different jobs

Anaheim Alert is the city’s opt-in message system. It carries warnings about road closures, police work, missing people, and other urgent events. Anaheim Public Utilities also uses it for email or text notice when power goes out. It can also warn about possible rotating outages. Add the home, mobile, business, email, and text contacts you want it to use.

A Public Safety Power Shutoff is not the same as a Red Flag Warning. The utility watches wind, heat, and fire danger. It may add patrols or change how a power line works. If the danger gets high enough, it may turn off one overhead line segment. One area can lose power while a nearby area stays on.

Anaheim Alert sends a message to you. The electric outage map shows current service trouble. If your outage is missing from the map, report it or call 714-765-3300. The phone line may be busy during a large event.

After a fire-weather outage, utility crews check the overhead line before turning it back on. They look for damaged gear and plants near wires. Power returns only after the danger has passed and the line is safe. This check can take time, and there is no fixed return time. Keep chargers, lights, medicine, and powered medical needs covered by a backup plan.
