Fire hazard zone maps are address tools
Fire hazard zone questions should get down to the address. One city can have flat streets, canyon edges, foothill homes, and open-space borders. The State Fire Marshal viewer lets people enter an address and see the Fire Hazard Severity Zone map.
That map can matter for building work, brush or plant work, insurance talks, disclosure papers, and local fire questions. It is also useful for simple planning, like knowing whether a home sits near a mapped fire area.
Do not treat a map color as the whole story. A parcel can also have local fire rules, defensible-space duties, HOA rules, slope issues, road access questions, or insurance details. Those pieces can be separate.
Use it in a steady way: enter the address, save the result, then follow the local fire, building, or insurance step tied to your question. That keeps wildfire planning specific without making every hillside address sound the same.
