Chula Vista wildfire prep is local, especially near open space

Chula Vista Fire explains local wildfire planning, while AlertSanDiego and Genasys provide the county alert, evacuation-zone, and live incident layers.

Chula Vista’s wildfire page is the planning layer for fire hazard severity zones, defensible space, local ordinances, and risk-reduction programs. Those questions depend on the address and current city rules, especially near a canyon or open-space edge.

AlertSanDiego is the county registration layer for emergency calls, texts, and emails. Genasys Protect is the zone-and-map layer for evacuation status and road information. The County’s live emergency page carries official updates for large incidents. These tools overlap on purpose, but they do not have the same job.

Set up the phone and the places you care about before fire weather. Save the Genasys zone for home, school, work, or a relative’s house. During an incident, follow the current warning or order and the official map rather than a screenshot with no timestamp.

For yard work, construction, or a property sale, go back to Chula Vista Fire’s current address-specific rules. For an active evacuation, go to the alert and live zone status. Keeping those two questions separate avoids a lot of confusion.
