Check voter status before the 15-day registration deadline

California's standard registration deadline is 15 days before Election Day, with conditional registration available during the final 14 days.

Check My Voter Status early. Make sure it shows the right name, address, and party preference. It will also name the county elections office that has your record.

The status tool only checks the record. It does not update it. Register again after a change to your home or mailing address, name, or political-party choice.

The standard deadline to register or register again is 15 days before Election Day. An eligible citizen who misses it still has a path. During the last 14 days, through Election Day, that person can use conditional voter registration. It is offered at a county elections office, polling place, or vote center. The county checks the registration before it counts the ballot.

Check current county sites and hours. Do not assume every place uses the same schedule. Safe at Home participants should use that program’s confidential-voter process. They should not use the public online form. Save all registration confirmations. Take a status problem to the county elections office while there is still time to fix it.
