Modesto business licenses start with the activity and address
Modesto business licensing gives owners application paths, license types, online renewal, and a search tool for current city business licenses.
Modesto says both home and commercial businesses in the city need a business license. Start with two facts: what the business does and where it will work. A home office, store, mobile service, and shop may need different papers.
The Business Licensing page has the forms, license types, renewals, and account tools. The separate Business License Search can show whether a current city license is on file. A result shows the license record. It does not show whether every land-use, health, seller, sign, or building step is done.
Before you apply, gather the name, address, start date, owner details, and a short note about what customers will get. If people visit, food is handled, goods are sold, a sign goes up, or building work is planned, check that step on its own before opening.
