Chico trash service is built around three carts
Chico residential trash service uses garbage, recycling, and organics carts, with large items and hazardous waste handled through separate hauler or drop-off paths.
In Chico, regular home waste is meant to be sorted before pickup. Homes in city limits use three carts: garbage, recycling, and organics. That is the daily detail to know after a move, a rental change, or a cart mix-up. The city keeps service guides and rates on its trash page, so it is better to use that page than guess from the carts next door.
Large items have a separate path. Recology’s Chico bulky item page covers things like refrigerators, televisions, tables, sofas, tires, rugs, and carpets. These pickups are scheduled. Fees can apply, and the hauler asks for advance notice. That is better than dragging a couch to the curb and hoping the regular truck takes it.
Hazardous waste is separate too. Some chemicals, batteries, fluorescent tubes, and similar items may belong at the Butte Regional Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Facility instead of in a cart. Recology lists drop-off details and resident limits.
The simple habit is this: sort the weekly carts, schedule the big stuff, and use the hazardous-waste page for anything that feels unsafe for a regular bin.
