Fresno cooling centers open at a 105°F forecast
When Fresno's National Weather Service forecast reaches at least 105°F, three city cooling centers activate from noon to 8 p.m., with free FAX rides along normal routes.
Fresno has a clear city rule. When the National Weather Service forecast for Fresno reaches or exceeds 105°F, the city activates three cooling centers from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.:
- Ted C. Wills Community Center: 770 N. San Pablo Ave.
- Mosqueda Community Center: 4670 E. Butler Ave.
- Maxie L. Parks Community Center: 1802 E. California Ave.
These buildings can also be open for ordinary recreation or events. Regular building hours do not mean the heat plan has been activated. Use the city cooling-center page and the linked Fresno forecast to apply the 105°F rule.
When the centers are active, a rider can board a FAX bus, tell the driver they are going to a cooling center, and ride free along the normal route to the center’s neighborhood. This is regular-route service, not a door-to-door ride. Review the FAX schedule for the route and return trip.
The city cooling page does not publish an animal policy or individual accessibility arrangements. Call 311 or (559) 621-CITY (2489) before leaving if either detail affects the trip. The Fresno County heat page is useful outside city limits, but other communities use different triggers and hours.
