Highland building work has a plan-check rhythm
Highland Building & Safety handles plan review, permits, and inspections for city-limit projects, with Planning and grading questions sorted before some plans move forward.
Highland Building & Safety is the lane for plan review, permits, and inspections on commercial, industrial, and residential projects inside city limits. That includes new structures, additions, and remodels.
New structures may need a Planning Division step before construction plans go to Building & Safety. Grading questions can split, too: commercial and tract-housing grading goes through Public Works, while Building & Safety handles grading review for residential additions and single new family residential structures.
That makes the address and project type important right away. Highland has foothill neighborhoods, newer subdivisions, older corridors, and places near county edges. A room addition, new home, tenant improvement, patio cover, or slope-related project may not follow the same order.
Once work is permitted, inspections are part of the job. The permit holder, contractor, owner, or representative is responsible for calling inspections at the right times, and work should be inspected before it is covered or concealed. Keep the permit number, site access, contact person, and inspection stage ready when scheduling.
