Irvine emergency notices work better when your cell is registered

Irvine uses AlertOC for time-sensitive voice, text, email, and accessible-device messages tied to the contact methods and locations a user registers.

AlertOC is the mass-notification system Irvine uses for time-sensitive emergency information. Depending on the event and the contact choices in an account, it can send voice calls, texts, email, and messages to supported accessible devices.

Register the places and contact methods you actually use: home, work, school, a business, or an older relative’s address. A person who works in Irvine but lives elsewhere can still add the location that matters. Update the account after a move, phone change, or email change.

AlertOC is one layer, and a message may not reach every device. Wireless Emergency Alerts, official city and county pages, local broadcasts, and responder instructions may carry the same or additional information.

When a message arrives, read the named location and requested action. Use Orange County’s emergency page for countywide context, but follow the most current official instruction for the place affected.
