Merced utility and street questions still use phone lanes
Merced still has a very useful phone-number page for everyday city chores. It separates billing, water, sewer, storm drains, refuse, street sweeping, street maintenance, tree problems, traffic signals, building services, and zoning into different lanes.
That helps because not every problem is a general City Hall question. A billing change, a water or sewer issue, a tree limb in the road, a damaged playground item, and a streetlight problem may all land with Public Works, but the details are not the same.
Before calling, write down the address or nearest cross street, what you noticed, and when it started. For utilities, have the account or service address ready. For streets, add the direction of travel or the side of the street if that helps.
The page also includes after-hours paths for some water, sewer, storm drain, refuse, and street maintenance issues. Use those when timing matters, and keep regular billing or planning questions for normal office hours.
