Box Springs gives Moreno Valley a mountain edge
Box Springs Mountain Reserve overlooks Moreno Valley and Riverside, with multi-use trails, picnic tables, bathrooms, and wide Inland Empire views.
Moreno Valley has a built-up valley floor, but Box Springs keeps a wild-looking edge close by. The reserve overlooks Moreno Valley and Riverside, so the city feels wider once you are up on the mountain side.
The trail map is helpful because the reserve is not one simple loop. It shows short, moderate, and harder options, including Skyline loops, Sugarloaf Trail, Two Trees Trail, and the steeper M Trail. People have room to pick a walk that fits the day.
The mountain rises above 3,000 feet, and the two parking areas have picnic tables and bathrooms. It can feel close to town and still feel open, especially when the valley spreads out below you.
Pick the trail for the day you actually packed for. Bring water, stay on signed trails, keep dogs leashed, and check the county map before heading out. A little planning helps the visit feel easy instead of rushed.
