Richmond code issue reports work best with a clear location
Richmond's Code Enforcement form is for possible neighborhood and private-property violations, with phone and email as backup.
Use Richmond Code Enforcement when the concern is a possible property or neighborhood code violation. The division checks junk or trash on private land, overgrown weeds, cars that do not run, zoning, fences, signs, business licenses, and dumping on private land.
Send the report through Richmond’s iMS system and give the exact street address. If there is no address, give the nearest cross streets and a fixed landmark. Describe what you saw and when you saw it. “Loose trash and two cars that do not run are in the side yard” is more useful than a guess about the owner.
You can also call 510-621-1279 or email [email protected]. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on most weekdays. Use one of those routes if the form fails or you need help picking the right kind of case.
A report can open a case, but city staff still checks the facts and decides whether there is a code violation. Save a copy of the location and details you sent in case staff calls. If the event puts life or property in danger and needs help now, call 911 instead of waiting for a code case.
