Santa Barbara permit applications use the Accela portal
Santa Barbara's Accela permit portal handles construction and land development applications, status checks, resubmittals, corrections, and payments.
Santa Barbara uses Accela Citizens Access for construction and land development permits. The permit page lets applicants apply, check plan review status, upload resubmittals and corrections, and pay fees through an account.
That online door is useful because Santa Barbara projects can involve more than one layer. A building permit, public works permit, fire permit, planning application, historic property question, coastal setting, or hillside site may each need a different review. The portal is the first place to organize the application before the details branch out.
Before applying, gather the address, owner and contractor details, plans, forms, prior comments, and payment information. The forms page also warns people to pay securely through Accela and not through odd payment requests. That is worth taking seriously anywhere, but especially on property projects where fees and plan revisions can move through email.
