Santa Barbara's FEMA flood map is for property rules, not live storms

The city says FEMA set June 10, 2026 as the revised map's effective date; use FEMA's current panel for parcel questions and ReadySBC for live conditions.

Santa Barbara’s city page gives June 10, 2026 as the effective date for the new FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Map. That date has passed. For a parcel check, use the current effective FEMA panel. Do not treat an old preliminary map as the final answer.

The city’s online map helps show what changed. For an insurance, loan, permit, or floodplain choice, check the panel in FEMA’s Flood Map Service Center. You can also ask city Building and Safety staff. For land outside city limits, the city points readers to Santa Barbara County.

A FEMA map is for rules and long-term flood risk. It does not show if a creek is rising, a road is flooded, or an evacuation is active now. During a storm, use ReadySBC and the City Office of Emergency Services. The county zone map can show evacuation areas, evacuation points, traffic controls, and road closures. Sign up for ReadySBC alerts. Follow the newest official order for your area.
