Santa Barbara utilities split water, trash, and power
Santa Barbara Utility Billing handles water and sewer accounts and city utility bills, while MarBorg handles trash service, SCE delivers electricity, and water emergencies use a 24-hour line.
The city has one utility bill, but moving takes more than one call. Utility Billing opens and closes water and sewer accounts. It also takes payments for water, sewer, and trash. Starting service costs $65.
MarBorg starts and stops trash service. It also handles carts, extra pickups, and illegal dumping. A cart or pickup problem goes to MarBorg even though the city takes the payment.
Power uses two names. Southern California Edison sends the bill and delivers the power. Santa Barbara Clean Energy supplies the electric plan. SoCalGas handles gas.
For a move, call Utility Billing for water and sewer. Then call MarBorg for trash. Have the address, move date, account number, phone, and email ready. A water main break goes to the city’s 24-hour line at 805-564-5413, not the billing desk.
