Legacy Fields shows Tracy's sports side and its water-smart side

Legacy Fields Sports Complex in Tracy is a large north-side sports project where non-potable recycled water now irrigates fields while drinking-water fixtures stay on potable water.

Legacy Fields is a sports note, but it is also a California water note. Tracy’s north-side sports complex is planned in phases, with fields and support space for large youth and community use.

Phase 1 covers 72 acres. It includes ballfields, soccer fields, restroom and concession buildings, parking, maintenance space, and landscaping. In March 2026, the city began using recycled non-potable water to irrigate the fields.

That does not mean every water fixture changed. Drinking fountains, restrooms, and concessions continue using potable domestic water. For current field status and project details, check the city page.
