Visalia's flood maps are planning records, not live conditions
Visalia's local GIS pages are based on FEMA maps effective in 2009; use FEMA's current address lookup and live official information for present conditions.
Visalia’s local flood pages explain FEMA maps that became effective June 16, 2009. The city’s GIS tools are based on that map data and remain useful for local background, construction questions, elevation records, and flood-map assistance.
For a current property lookup, follow the city’s link to FEMA’s Map Service Center and search the address. The city’s flood-assistance line can also help with a map or insurance question. A separate dam-failure study describes possible inundation from Terminus Dam; it is not the same as the ordinary FEMA flood-zone map.
These are planning and regulatory records, not live water conditions. During heavy rain or a current emergency, use official weather, road, and public-safety information rather than a static flood map.
The city’s general preparedness page recommends a family plan, escape routes, and at least three days of supplies. Keep the property map with the records and the household plan where people can reach it.
