Visalia street and trash problems start with the right service line
Visalia routes common street, sign, pothole, sewer smell, and trash pickup questions through different Public Works and Utility Billing lines, so the address matters before you call.
In Visalia, the right first call depends on what kind of problem you are seeing. A pothole, missing street sign, bad street closure, or sewer smell in the street usually starts with Public Works Customer Service at 559-713-4428.
Trash pickup is a little different. If a can was missed, or if a garbage can is causing a sidewalk problem, the Utility Billing Center or solid waste customer service line may be the better first call. Have the service address ready, because the crew needs to know the exact street and side of the block.
One small detail saves time: make sure the problem is inside Visalia city limits. Some roads and addresses near town are handled by Tulare County instead. If the address is outside the city, the county public works number may be the better path.
For street signs, write down the nearest cross street and what is missing or damaged. A quick photo can also help you explain the spot clearly.
