FAX is Fresno's first bus map

Fresno Area Express, or FAX, is the regular city bus system. The standard one-way fare is $1. Children age 12 and younger ride free. Qualifying seniors, riders with disabilities, Medicare cardholders, and veterans also ride free with the required ID. Have the exact cash fare because the bus does not give cash change.

A paid fare includes free transfers for 90 minutes in any direction. Keep the transfer proof if the trip needs a second bus. Most regular weekday service runs from about 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Weekend service is generally about 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., while a smaller set of late-night routes runs later Monday through Saturday.

Route 01, called FAX Q, is the frequent line along Blackstone Avenue, downtown, Ventura and Kings Canyon, and out to Clovis Avenue. It normally comes about every 10 minutes during busier periods and every 15 minutes at other times. It uses the same $1 fare.

FAX buses stop only at marked stops. Open the route map in each direction, then check the current alert for that stop. Downtown construction can move a stop even when the route number and general street stay the same.
