Oceanside building plans use the web-based process
Oceanside no longer accepts paper plans. Projects with plans use the web-based submittal process, while certain single-family permits can start in eTRAKiT.
Any Oceanside building permit with plans must use the online route. Paper plans are no longer accepted. If the permit is not on the instant list, fill out the online form or email the printable form. Staff will send a bill and a Box link. Upload the needed files and pay the fees. Only then does the plan check begin.
Contractors and their agents can use eTRAKiT for listed single-family permits. That list covers same-type A/C, furnace, and water-heater swaps. It also covers re-roofs, solar or battery systems, and electric-car chargers.
A homeowner or agent can book an inspection in eTRAKiT with the permit number. No account is needed. Ask by 3:30 p.m. on a business day for the next business day. A later request is set for two business days out.
SolarAPP+ covers most home roof-top retrofit systems. A re-roof or main-panel upgrade needs a separate permit. A job in the coastal zone also needs a Planning check. Planning will decide if it is exempt, excluded, or needs a city or California Coastal Commission permit.
