SacRT is the bus-and-light-rail layer around Sacramento

SacRT handles many Sacramento bus and light-rail trips, with routes, alerts, fares, mobile payment, and transfer details to check together.

SacramentoSacRTLight RailTransit

Sacramento transit is easier to read when SacRT is the main layer on the table. SacRT runs bus and light-rail service through the city and into nearby communities, including trips tied to downtown, state offices, medical centers, colleges, event venues, and park-and-ride stops.

The practical part is timing and payment. A light-rail trip may use a station vending machine or mobile ticket. A bus trip may use exact change, a card, a phone, or another SacRT fare tool. SacRT retired the old ZipPass app on July 1, 2026 and now points riders to Transit Connect for mobile fares.

Check the route page, then the fare page. Route changes, Gold Line details, student passes, Tap2Ride, Connect Transit Card, and service alerts can affect the same trip in different ways. A small check up front can save a lot of guessing at the platform.
