Tracy utility service has separate start and stop forms

Tracy puts water, sewer, storm drain, and garbage charges on one city utility account. Tracy Disposal handles garbage pickup, but the city handles the bill. Call the hauler about a missed pickup. Call city Finance about the account or charge.

To start service, send the city application and required documents. Renters pay a $175 deposit on the first bill. The deposit goes toward the final bill when service ends. Each address needs its own account.

To stop service, give the city a firm stop date and a forwarding address. The city cannot backdate the request. A late request may run to the next business day. The city usually prepares the final bill two to three weeks after the last meter reading.

Property owners have one important exception: the city does not close the account just because a home is vacant. Basic water, sewer, and storm-drain charges keep running. Before a move, have the service address, move date, lease or closing papers, account number, and forwarding address ready.
