Hemet parks, recreation programs, and library service use different counters
Hemet maintains city parks and its library, while Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District handles many organized sports, classes, and recreation sites.
For a regular park visit, start with the City of Hemet. Developed city parks are open from 6 a.m. to dusk. Park reservations are currently suspended, so an open lawn or picnic area should not be treated as a reservable event site.
For a league, class, tournament, or recreation center, check Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District instead. It is a separate public district with its own sites, programs, schedules, and registration. A city park name does not always mean the city runs the activity held there.
The Hemet Public Library is another separate stop at 300 East Latham Avenue. It is open to all patrons Tuesday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. is limited to registered Open Access+ users.
Open Access+ also adds self-service hours from 7 to 9 a.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Registration must be handled at the library desk first. Decide whether you need a park, a recreation program, or the library before driving; each one has a different counter and schedule.
